Understand your assets before taking action

A wallet overview can organize multiple assets, but a displayed token name is not proof of chain ownership. This preview illustrates a readable balance, network and token hierarchy.

Six-stage journey

Six steps from setup to a deliberate first transfer

01 🔎

Verify source

Verify the destination domain and publisher; do not trust an installation link simply because it arrived in a message.

Read the guide →
02 📱

Install and create

Use a trusted device, distinguish new wallet setup from restoration and secure local access before proceeding.

03 📝

Record recovery words

Write recovery words offline in their original order; avoid screenshots, messaging services and synced notes.

Protect the backup

Store the backup securely and consider theft, damage and loss. Understand what credential exposure could mean.

05 🌐

Review assets

Confirm token networks and contracts. Displaying a token is not the same as moving or owning it on a specific chain.

06 ✅

Review the transfer

Recheck destination, network, amount and fees. Consider a small test to a new recipient before signing.

Security principles

Security is a repeatable process, not a single toggle

01

Ownership

Keep keys and recovery phrases out of support chats and unknown websites.

02

Verification

Review network, recipient, amount and approvals before signing.

03

Recovery

Plan offline backups and recovery before switching or losing a device.

These are general security principles, not a promise that any app can eliminate loss, attacks or mistakes.

Self-custody means the user keeps control of wallet credentials. Verify the actual key-storage design of any specific app before relying on it.

Network access is generally needed to refresh on-chain data or broadcast transfers; key storage and network activity are separate concerns.

Write it accurately and offline. Do not photograph, cloud-sync or share it, and protect it against loss and unauthorized access.

A private key signs for an address; a recovery phrase can derive multiple keys. Both are highly sensitive.
